Spring is almost here and if
you’re like me, it reminds me that the outdoor cats won't have to live in the
freezing cold outdoors. That’s my main reason for not liking winter.
I feel like there’s always so much to tell you which makes these emails so long so I apologize for the lengthy email. I’m not sharing everything in this email but you can go onto our Facebook page and/or our blog (see below for links). I apologize for the long emails on one hand but am grateful and excited at the same time because we’re making such tremendous progress! Rich and I want to THANK everyone one of you who has contributed in some way, big or small, for helping us get Delco Loves Animals off the ground. As we grow, it’s important to us that we are transparent and that we update you. We also want to encourage you to think outside the box and let us know if you have any ideas that might be worth exploring.
It’s amazing how animals unite us. Our love for animals transcends skin color, political affiliations, and everything else that wants to divide us as a community and society. With the tense environment all around us, Rich and I are careful not to allow race, politics and anything that is divisive to enter into what we’re doing. We’re all people who have a common love for animals and a goal to help them. I just heard someone say recently that God created animals second to people which shows us how important animals are to God. And it’s important that we take our responsibility to care for animals seriously. Our hope is also that we, as people, can learn to love people as much as we love animals and if we disagree, to disagree respectfully. We hope to bring Delco Loves People to Delco one day. We want LOVE to permeate and be the force in and behind everything we do.
Last month we had a productive Zoom meeting. I’ve been having some issues either with my laptop or the free Zoom account and haven’t been able to download and send the recording. We now have a paid Zoom account as you’ll read below so we shouldn’t have any issues again with that.
WAYS WE COMMUNICATE
We stay connected through
four main channels. If you're looking for updates between emails and Zoom
meetings, be sure to check out our Facebook page or blog. Know someone who’d
like to join our Zoom meetings or be added to our email list? Simply reach out
to us at DelcoLovesAnimals@gmail.com.
FREE CAT SHELTERS
We have someone who makes
FREE cat shelters. If anyone has a need for them, let us know and we’ll put the
order in and let you know when and where to pick them up. He said he can make
as many as you need.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We have a variety of volunteer
opportunities available and will be sending out a separate email with all the
details. You will also be able to find the information on our Facebook page and
blog soon. It was wonderful connecting with many of you at the last Pet Food
Pantry and we truly appreciate your willingness to volunteer and support this
important cause. We’ll be in touch soon!
We are thrilled to be co-sponsoring our 3rd Pet Food Pantry on March 23rd again with John Sperduto, owner of Alphabet Lane Child Development Center at the Church of Christ in Folsom. We want to THANK John for taking this on again! February’s Pet Food Pantry went so well, and the space worked out perfectly! This month we’d like to announce that The Spayed Club will be there again as well as adoptable pets this time! Please see attached flyers for details. We’ll need volunteers to help bring in donations, set up the donations, help carry items to cars, etc. You don’t have to be there from beginning to end, but you can be if you like. If you would like volunteer on March 23rd for any amount of time, please get in touch.
We have some prospects for future locations. If you know of any church, business or municipality who would be interested in co-sponsoring a Pet Food Pantry with us, please get in touch with us. We’d like to get this year scheduled.
Prospective Locations
- Folcroft
Borough: We were invited by councilman, Steve Ropski (thank you, Steve!) to do a
presentation at the next Folcroft Borough Meeting on March 11th
at 7pm. If anyone would like to attend with us, please feel free. They are
located on Ashland Ave in Folcroft, right off of Delmar Drive. Steve said
the borough council members are excited to hear about Delco Loves Animals
and will consider co-sponsoring a Pet Food Pantry in their borough.
- Grace
Reformed Episcopal Church: This church has a very large
community room so they are on our list to contact about using their space
for the Pet Food Pantry. We’ll be contacting the pastor there this week
about it.
MONTHLY ZOOM MEETINGS
We now have a paid account
with Zoom through our real estate business which we can use for Delco Loves
Animals. At this point, we’d like to hold monthly Zoom meetings to keep the
lines of communication open both ways. As time goes on, we’ll re-evaluate whether
or not we need to continue Zoom meetings or if we need to have more frequent
meetings.
We won’t have any time limitations, but we want to keep the meetings to an hour or under. To keep us on track, I’ll give everyone a 15-minute warning, so we have enough time to wrap things up. Each meeting will be recorded which everyone who registered will receive a recording of. So, if you registered and can’t make it, you’ll receive a recording.
We will have monthly Zoom meetings every 3rd Monday of each month through the end of this year (unless otherwise specified). If you would like to attend, please email us at DelcoLovesAnimals@gmail.com and we'll send you the link to register. You will need to register just once and then you can attend all the meetings without having to register again. Please mark your calendars if you would like to attend.
This email was sent out on March 4, 2025.
